• At the Wind Investment Awards, Ocean Winds proudly received the title of “2024 Offshore Wind Developer of the Year” in recognition of its expansive business development strategies as well as its achievement in reaching Financial Close for three bottom-fixed offshore wind projects in France and the United Kingdom in 2023.
• Additionally, Ocean Winds’ groundbreaking 882 MW Moray West project was honored as the “Project Finance of the Year 2024” for its innovative approach to project finance.
London. 24 May of 2024 – Ocean Winds, an international company dedicated to offshore wind energy and created as a 50-50 joint venture by EDP Renewables and ENGIE, obtained today two prestigious Wind Investment Awards at the fifth edition of this ceremony. The annual Wind Investment Awards, organized by celebrates best practice in the global onshore and offshore wind industry, incorporating innovation, financing, project development and asset management.
Hosted by global renewable energy and clean technology community, Tamarindo, the awards unite prominent decision-makers to enable opportunities to network and forge long-term business connections.
The first award obtained was as Offshore Wind Developer of the Year. This award was attributed to OW’s expansive business development strategies on a global scale – with already 18 GW of capacity, with 2GW currently under construction and 1.5GW already operational –, as well as its project financial excellence by obtaining more than 7.4 billion euros of financing in April 2023 alone for the Moray West, Dieppe Le Tréport and îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier projects.
The second award was for Ocean Winds’ Moray West project as Project Finance of the Year 2024, thanks to its innovative project financing pioneer in the UK, as well as its integration of cutting-edge technology with one of the largest turbines being installed in Europe.
These two awards obtained on 23 May come on the heels of two other prices won in February 2024 received from PFI– positioning Ocean Winds as an industry benchmark and reference point despite turbulent times for offshore wind, thanks to its continued expansive but also realistic strategies.
