Eoliennes flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL)

The EFGL Project is a joint venture between Ocean Winds (80%) & Banque des Territoires (CDC Investment Works) (20%).

This project is WindFloat Atlantic “twin project” with three 10MW turbines on Principle Power’s WindFloat® floaters. With several key innovations slated for demonstration at EFGL project, and thanks to an incremental de-risking process, the EFGL project will allow this technology to reach its 3rd generation, before for mass deployment.

The project is furthermore located in specific Mediterranean climate, one of the windiest area in France, with a mean wind speed close to 10m/s, as well a challenging level of turbulence intensity.

Currently under construction, it’s initiating the industrial structuring of the floating wind energy sector along the entire French Mediterranean coast.

Located inside the Gulf of Lion Marine natural park, the project involves local stakeholders to improve environmental knowledges. It will include very specific devices and environmental assessments such as birds and bats detection. Its eco-friendly design will also includes the implementation on one floating structure of fish nurseries units.
