April 21, 2026 – Madrid. Ocean Winds (OW), a global leader in offshore wind energy and 50–50 joint venture between EDP Renewables and ENGIE, is participating as offshore content partner at WindEurope 2026 in Madrid—home to its headquarters. There, it will highlight its role in advancing the energy transition, showcase the benefits of offshore wind energy across Europe, contribute to strengthening Europe’s energy independence and engage with global offshore wind regulators, supply chain and stakeholders.
For the past years, OW has been focused on delivering projects at scale while strengthening its position as a long-term owner-operator. Following an intense construction year in 2025, OW’s drive for 2026 is to bring new projects into operation while maintaining high standards of performance, safety, and reliability.
In a context of renewed momentum and strong interest in the sector, OW is using opportunities such as WindEurope 2026 to advocate for stable regulatory frameworks and well-designed auction systems that ensure long-term viability of a profitable European offshore wind industry.
In France, OW is progressing key projects with two expected to be operating at full capacity in the coming months, advancing the country’s offshore wind rollout. The bottom-fixed Yeu-Noirmoutier project, off the western coast, comprises of 61 turbines, while the Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL), OW’s first floating offshore wind project in France, features three 10 MW turbines off the southern coast. Together, these projects are set to deliver clean, reliable energy while supporting the nation’s energy transition and industrial development.
In Poland, OW is supporting the country’s ambition to become a leading offshore wind market. Following financial close in December 2025, the BC-Wind project secured around €2 billion in project financing and entered its first phase of construction in 2026, marking the transition from development to delivery. This milestone builds on years of permitting, financing, and local supply chain development. Key activities are now underway, including offshore substation construction and onshore infrastructure works. Through BC-Wind, OW is supporting Poland’s energy transition, strengthening energy security and contributing to the creation of strong, local industrial capacity.
In the United Kingdom, OW continues to consolidate its position through a diversified portfolio of five offshore wind projects at distinct stages. In the Moray Firth, Moray East has been fully operational since 2022, demonstrating the scale of bottom-fixed solutions. The Caledonia project is advancing through consents and is expected to feature bottom-fixed technology with potential for a floating component. The Arven project in the Shetland Islands remains in early-stage development, while the recently awarded PDA2 project in the Celtic Sea marks the latest addition to the UK portfolio. Together, these projects highlight OW’s end-to-end capabilities and commitment to supporting the UK’s net-zero ambitions.
In Iberia, OW established its pioneering floating experience with WindFloat Atlantic, the world’s first semi-submersible floating offshore wind farm, demonstrating that floating technology is ready for commercial-scale deployment. This expertise is helping inform and accelerate regulatory progress, with OW actively engaging with governments in both Portugal and Spain to support the development of clear and stable regulatory frameworks enabling large-scale deployment.
Complementing this delivery-first focus, OW pursues strategic growth in markets where long-term value creation is both realistic and sustainable, particularly as a new wave of offshore wind auctions is taking shape across Europe. Markets such as Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, offer the right conditions, with stable regulatory frameworks and well-designed auction systems supporting the delivery of large-scale, bankable, bottom-fixed projects.

On 22 April at 17:00 OW will be launching the “Floating Offshore Wind & Biodiversity Coexistence: A Data-Driven Report from WindFloat Atlantic”, sharing key sights from five years of independent research on the coexistence of floating offshore wind and marine biodiversity at WindFloat Atlantic. The study was conducted by Blue Grid in collaboration with academic partners from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL) and Politécnico de Leiria. Ocean Winds will also mark the reception of its ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certifications at Bureau Veritas’s stand.
