To date 3.5GW has been awarded, of which the JV has taken 1GW with two bottom-fixed commercial projects (EMDT and EMYN – 496 MW each) and one pilot floating project (EFGL – 30 MW), President Macron has offered his public support for the development of offshore wind farms in France, with the country now planning to award tenders for another 8.5GW between 2021 and 2028, at an additional 1GW per year.

From the end of 2020 to the end of 2021, France will release three tenders for the first phase of commercial floating wind farms of 250MW each, and two bottom-fixed tenders for 1GW each. These projects will benefit from a contract for a different support mechanism for over 20 years.
